20 Jan Zenith Chronomaster Revival El Primero A385 With A Brown Gradient Dial
Zenith has brought back a wonderful design with a beautiful gradient dial from their design in 1969, the Zenith Chronomaster Revival El Primero A385.
The original 1969 version made waves when it was strapped to the landing gear of an Air France Boeing 707’s landing gear to withstand the massive temperature fluctuations happening from the flight. The watch served the massive changes in air pressure, temperature and still was functional when it landed. I wish that they still did these daring publicity stunts, it would make stories like this one even more interesting.
After more than 5 decades, the Zenith Chronomaster Revival El Primero A385is back and has a vintage-inspired look but looks modern on the wrist. The design of this particular model was actually reversed engineered from the original blueprints to make sure the design was perfect. The pump-style pushes and 37mm stainless steel case is still period accurate to the original model.
It features a more modern domed sapphire crystal instead of acrylic glass and the display back as well. It boasts the legendary El Primero 400 chronograph movement as well.

The Bottom Line
We particularly like this watch because of the beautiful and unique looking gradient compared to other chronographs we have seen in the same category. It’s a watch that you can wear every day that is not only extremely nice to style with, but also very functional as well. The watch itself is too small for me personally, I would go with something closer to 40mm or above, but it’s perfect for just about everyone else who likes a bit of a smaller watch. Welcome back Zenith Chronomaster Revival El Primero A385, you are welcomed to stay as long as you would like.
